First Team Coach delighted for team to get back to winning ways

Speaking after Tuesday night's well earned victory over Bolton Wanderers Reserves, Graham Barrow praised the efforts of his team who were in fine form after a so long without a game.

"Obviously some of the lads haven't played for the best part of two months, but it was a good performance from the word go; we looked like we meant business and set the pace early on," said Barrow.

"Difficult conditions to play in with the wind blowing but we did well to get the ball down and move it round. To their credit, the young players like Jon Routledge, Callum McManaman and Joe Holt got control of the midfield and created some good chances.

"We looked solid at the back, and Lee Nicholls looked very comfortable in goal. So a good all-round performance which I was very pleased with."

Routledge in particular commanded the game, hunting the ball down in the middle of the park and playing a key role in the second goal, and Barrow explained how his attitude is something that is common-place in the whole team:

"Jon's been a good captain all season, he gives you 100% every time he's out on the park and he showed a lot of quality tonight. He was switching the play well all night and was pivotal in the second goal, so we're pleased with his performance and that of the whole team.

"I've always said the attitude of the players has been fantastic, right from the start of the season. It's nice for them now to start picking up some results along the way as well because they deserve them.

"People say at this level that league positions aren't the most important factor, but at the end of the day football is all about winning games and that's what we aim to do.

"The players know that as long as they're trying to play the game in the right way they're not under too much pressure in terms of results, it's important for them to be playing a certain way."
