RESERVES: Latics versus Sunderland, Robin Park Arena, kick off 7.00pm

Keith Bertschin's Latics are back in action tonight to face Sunderland at Robin Park Arena, kick off 7.00pm

Erik Edman is the one senior pro involved in what Bertschin describes as 'a chance to forget about the last half an hour against Manchester United.'

Latics squandered a 4-1 lead to lose 5-4 in a quite extraordinary game last week but Bertschin said he has told his players to focus more on the positives from last week's game.

"I thought the lads did terrifically to get so far ahead last week," he said, "what happened then, I hope, was just a one-off and I really want them to repeat the energy and spirit from the first hour of last week.

"They are still young players in the main and hopefully, last week will give them a good experience."

Bertschin added: "I thought it was a real shame because the lads have been fantastic for the majority of the season, competing alongside Academy players and more than matching them. Let's hope they can learn the lesson and keep progressing."

Tomasz Cywka is the leading scorer for the reserves this season having netted six times in 13 games for Bertschin's team, form which has taken him to the edge of the first team squad, and he will be looking to add to that tally tonight.

LATICS: Nicholls, Buxton, Field, Pearson, Edman, Mahon, Routledge, Hampson, Holt, Kupisz, Cywka
Subs: Williams, Mustoe, Redmond, Breeze, McManaman
